Tour of Missouri

DESCRIPTION: Overview: The top professional cycling teams in the world will race through Missouri Sept. 7-13 for the third Tour of Missouri. For the first time, the 612-mile race will conclude in Kansas City with a circuit race that will take riders through the greater downtown area.

HIGHLIGHTS: 
When: Sunday, Sept. 13, 2-5 p.m. (end time approximate)

What: Circuit race, riders will race seven laps on a 10.2-mile circuit through the greater downtown area. Total length: 71.4 miles (114.9 km)

Who: 120 cyclists from 15 teams, including the current top five ranked teams in the world. Seven participating teams won 14 of 21 stages of the recent Tour de France.

Start/Finish: Crown Center, Grand Blvd. at Washington Square Park (just north of Pershing Rd.)

King of the Mountain: Two, Kessler Road in Penn Valley Park and Summit Street near 17th Street

Sprint Line: Grand Boulevard between 13th & 14th streets at Sprint Center

Ranking: The International and National Federation for Cycling has recognized the Tour of Missouri as one of the top five ranked events outside of Europe. It ranks with the Tour of California, as one of the top two cycling races in the U.S.
