• March 1 – The College Basketball Capital of America will kick off basketball’s busiest month with a celebration called “Start March....Where the Road Begins."  Starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Kansas City Power & Light District, fans are encouraged to come out and celebrate the annual return of college basketball to KC. The free festivities will include a New Year’s Eve-style “ball drop” in the KC Live! block.
   
• March 3-5– The Golden Ox will host the MIAA Fan Pavilion at Barney Allis Plaza. The event is co-sponsored by the American Royal, Pepsi and Boulevard Brewing Co. The pavilion will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 3, through Saturday, March 5.
   
• Starting March 5 – For a limited time, James Naismith’s Original Rules of Basket Ball will be on display at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art through May 29. The free exhibition showcases the two-page, landmark document on which the inventor typed the game’s 13 basic rules in 1891. For more information, go to nelson-atkins.org.
   
• March 9 – The Midland by AMC will host the Third Annual Kansas City Basketball Tip-Off, featuring hot country artists Little Big Town and Josh Kelley. Tickets start at $25 with proceeds benefitting Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet. For more information, go to btllf.org/pride.html.
   
• March 9-12 – Big 12 GameDaypresented by Phillips 66 will be located just outside Sprint Center on Grand Boulevard. The free, interactive experience features games, music, mascots, autograph opportunities and promotional giveaways. The schedule is as follows:
  • Wednesday, March 9: 3 to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 10: 2 to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, March 11: 2 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 12: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
      
• March 9-12 – The Miller Lite Basketball Fan Fest presented by Sports Radio 810 will feature the following free events in the KC Live! Block of the Power & Light District:
  • Wednesday, March 9, at 10:30 p.m.: Vertical Horizon (all fans must be 21 or older)
  • Thursday and Friday, March 10 & 11, 10:30 p.m.: DJ Entertainment (must be 21 older)
  • Saturday, March 12, late night: DJ Entertainment  (must be 21 or older)
  • All weekend long, fans can cheer on their teams at pep rallies in KC Live! and watch basketball games on the big outdoor screen
      
• All month long –The College Basketball Experience (CBE)andNational Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame will host extended operational hours during the month of March. Show your Big 12 Men’s or Women’s ticket during the CBE’s published hours at the CBE Box Office (inside the Sprint Center lobby) and save $2 on regular admission, March 9-12.
